Enough already..

Robert Duncan went to prison Monday for working in a collective/dispensary in Northern California. The owner of the operation was sentenced to five years, Duncan to two. The business is legal in California, but that didn't matter to the feds. They prosecuted them and now they're serving time for something that is legal in that state. Oregon legalized dispensaries last summer. Applications began this month. Will it matter? Will they go to jail too?

When is this going to stop? When are states going to stop letting the federal government arrest people for following state law? Where are the lawsuits on behalf of residents who are doing everything right, yet still lose everything? Where is the outrage from governors and legislatures? Law abiding citizens are helpless in the face of federal abuse. And that's what this is. Abuse. The feds have known for years that medical cannabis is legal in many states. Why haven't they taken steps to solve the parity issue between state and federal law? Why is it okay in their estimation to ruin lives? The cost to taxpayers is enormous to incarcerate everyone and then to deal with them when they come out of prison, jobless.

The whole situation is beyond ridiculous. No one should go to prison for a plant, especially one that has so much use, whether medicinally or industrially. Industrial hemp could have been so beneficial to our country, let alone the world, but the lie was told and sanity went away, replaced by a profit motive so great that honesty and integrity went right out the window. Isn't it about time that we got some of that back?

Two states have legalized cannabis. Washington is in the process of screwing over patients, which many of us saw coming during the I502 battle. Here's the thing..we didn't get medical cannabis laws passes so that we could get high. We did it so that we could get well. I realize the Washington State Liquor Control Board doesn't agree with that and views patients with disdain, but that's not based in reality. Patients will suffer in Washington if this happens. So, I hope someone steps in and stops these fools. Otherwise, patients will be in real trouble there. Things seem to be going better in Colorado, but there's always time for shenanigans to occur.

Alaska is set to vote on legalization this summer, and many more states, including Oregon, will have legalization initiatives on the November ballot. Washington DC decriminalized cannabis in limited amounts yesterday, instituting a $25.00 fine for up to an ounce. Imagine that..sanity in our nation's capital. Even Italy understands the travesty that cannabis laws have on people because they're poised to let 10,000 of their citizens out of prison for cannabis violations.

So much would be solved if the federal government would come out and say, once and for all, that cannabis laws should never have been instituted, that cannabis is safe, and that everyone who is currently incarcerated will now be released with their records expunged. It's the only fair thing to do at this point. The truth about cannabis is coming out daily now and the federal government's denial of the truth only makes them look dictatorial and small. Legalization is favored by the majority of citizens now, and those numbers would rise substantially if the government would be honest about this plant.

People suffer when governments lie. We've had too much of that in our history. It's time the truth was told. Cannabis is safe. Cannabis heals just about everything. Hemp can heal the earth. Stop the insane lie that has destroyed so many lives. I think we reached critical mass on this years ago. How about we do something positive for a change?

Medicinal Cannabis..since we're talking about heathcare and all..

Apparently the government knew that cannabis preparations are effective in treating epilepsy. In 1949. And now the FDA has approved a study to look at this. Thanks, guys. Whatcha' gonna do when parents of children who have died from severe seizures come knocking on your door? What will you say to them? What will you say to the families of loved ones who have died from cancer? Because IT DIDN'T NEED TO HAPPEN.

Will you let everyone out of prison for using cannabis medicinally? Will you stop destroying lives yet? All we want to be is well. All we want is for our children to be well and to live happy and productive lives. And yet the federal government continues to stand in the way of truth...and health.

Washington State legalized cannabis last time. And now it appears that the worst fears of patients everywhere are about to be realized. Some want to gut the medical cannabis law and hurt patients in the process. After reading various articles, I've come to the conclusion that the recreational outlets are concerned about losing out to dispensaries, which is odd because dispensaries are reserved for patients, not the general public. Again, it's about money and not about the patient. Many of us were concerned about I-502 and voiced those concerns at the time. Oregon and Washington tend to follow each other at times so I hope we're more sensible here. It looks like we will be because already cities such as Medford have tried to ban dispensaries which were just legalized. The state's attorneys issued a letter telling them that they can't do this, so there's that. We'll take encouragement wherever we can find it, I suppose.

Everywhere you look now, articles are springing up about the efficacy of cannabis in the treatment of all sorts of conditions. Whether you vape, smoke, use concentrates, or use raw cannabis in smoothies for example, cannabis will help everything. And no, I'm not high. It really WILL help everything. Ideally, cannabis should be consumed raw, either in smoothies, or if you like the taste, just eat it as is. There is no altered state associated with this and it's enormously healthful. I use it daily in my smoothies along with hemp hearts and hemp milk as well.

Vaping is recommended over smoking, but smoking cannabis isn't the same as smoking cigarettes, and actually protects your lungs in the process. I know that sounds counter-productive, but apparently research shows this to be true. Of course the current histrionics surround the so-called e-cigs. Vape pens for oil are essentially the same thing..we just put oil in them to medicate with. The best table-top vaporizer is the Volcano. There are some others as well, but most pens actually burn the cannabis instead of vaporizing, which is fine as long as you know that. Some conditions respond well to inhalation versus ingestion, so you figure out what works best and then do it.

Concentrates are another category. I don't really include medibles in this, however. Technically food is medicine, but that's another subject. By concentrates, I mean oil, tincture, and capsules. Oil is also known as Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO. This is the sludgy stuff that takes a whole bunch of dried bud to make a tiny amount of oil. Pictures of my latest oil are below. I use it for RA and it works well. Tincture is typically made with alcohol or glycerine. I prefer the glycerine version as I don't drink alcohol. Patients either put some under their tongue or in tea to medicate. I prefer tea. The capsules are made by infusing cannabis bud into coconut oil. You can either strain the infusion or not (I don't) and then when it cools enough you put them into capsules. I use the Cap-m-Quik system which includes trays. Filling them is messy. There's no getting around it. But they work. Take a weekend to titrate when you're not going anywhere. Probably should do that with every new batch of whatever you make.

In any event, people should take a close look at cannabis. It's not what people have been led to believe. All this time, we've had a safe treatment available that the government has denied us. We need to either grow it and make our own medicine, or we need to have dispensaries who will produce the same product we make in our kitchens. Big Pharma needs to stay out of it unless it can do the same. It's the entire plant that heals..not some derivation of. The best part is the lack of side effects that many drugs give. Imagine removing a growth with oil that when gone leaves behind new healthy skin. Imagine that instead of surgery that leaves scarring and God knows what else! As they say, been there, done that, so I know it's true.

No matter how you end up medicating, the important part is that you do it. And when you do, you'll join a remarkable family. And we're all here to help show you the way!

Amazon or Cap-m-Quik have capsules and trays for coconut bud capsules. I use a rice cooker to prepare the oil and then a coffee warmer to boil out what's left of the alcohol.

A Hemp Flag A-Flyin'

A hemp flag will be raised above the Capitol on Thursday, July 4th. How ironic. Do we dare hope that this could mean the government has finally calmed down about hemp, and that legalization is in our future? It's ridiculous that we don't have that now. Farmers could be growing hemp..something that can sustain the world in so many ways. We can make ethanol, clothing, paper, plastics, cars, homes, food, medicine, jewelry (my personal favorite)...it's endless. Everyone should be including hemp in their diet, by either using hemp oil, hemp hearts, hemp protein powder..it's all available. It's just not grown here in this country. Well, it's starting to be grown here again. Classifying industrial hemp as a Schedule 1 drug is just nuts. It's not psychoactive. Why would they do that?

Look, this is why the world looks upon us with such disbelief. They think we're all insane. We let our lawmakers screw us over on a daily basis, enacting laws that serve only their election coffers in the long run. The ridiculous attitude about hemp is just one example of how science and reason don't seem to influence decisions on the Hill. Research continues to show that cannabis, industrial hemp's psychoactive cousin, cures cancer, but do you think lawmakers will listen? No. They prefer instead to be stupid.

Wonderful things are happening in Texas. Oh those stupid men will probably pass the anti-abortion bill into law, but women and men are standing up. And we'll continue to stand up. Just as we will stand up to misogynistic laws, we will stand up for common sense. Continuing the federal ban on industrial hemp is not common sense. Cannabis legalization is inevitable. So is industrial hemp. Why don't we surprise the world and do something intelligent for a change?
