Grow Journal - Day 42 of Flower!

We're at day 42..in three more weeks, they should all be about done. Then the rest of the work begins with trimming, hanging, drying and processing everything into meds. The last thing anyone really needs is for Big Pharma to get involved in cannabis but it's clear that they ultimately will. Legalization will happen throughout the country when they are ready for it, and not a moment before. That's why our government has various patents on cannabis compounds. It's never about what's best or what's honest, or what's respectful. It's never about people..only profits. Now they see that legalization is happening in the states, whether medical or otherwise, they're jumping on the bandwagon. But here's the deal, we're all on to them. We've sat by, watching our friends go to prison, while they continue to lie and ruin lives with draconian laws based on profit motive instead of science. We've sat by, watching patients who follow state law to the letter be tried and convicted of doing just that. And the fact that they're patients who are following state law isn't admitted into court, so the jury may not have all the facts before them when deciding the case.

We become patients because we either don't like the drugs our doctors give us, or we've run out of options. That's what happened in my case. I ran out of options. So I decided to become a patient and see if cannabis could help me. And it did. It did everything the drugs weren't doing. I don't blame any of my doctors..they're only doing what they're trained to do. Few think outside the box because too much is at risk. Now that the DEA is contacting doctors in one state and threatening their DEA license if they have anything to do with legal medical cannabis, maybe we've reached a breaking point. The House has passed a bill that prevents the DEA from involvement with cannabis states as long as state law is being followed. The Senate will no doubt do the same because they're tired of the DEA's antics as well. Doing at least that would take the pressure off. Maybe then we can continue the conversation that began with Sanjay Gupta's and others' documentaries. We not only CAN talk about cannabis..we MUST talk about cannabis. The truth is coming out. Better to get in front of it than to be left behind in the dust.

Sorry for the rant..and here are the ladies!

The resin production is very noticeable now. Dominator XL LED lights are the reason for that as well as the addition of Sucanat in the water. I do have to say, though, Galactic Jack looks amazing. As always, the seeds are from TGA Genetics Subcool Seeds. Subcool and MizJill have created some really nice strains for patients. Their care and attention to detail is uncompromising. For folks like me, their devotion to this craft is beyond appreciated. I wouldn't be here without them.

Grow Journal - Day 25 of Flower

Everything is growing so well under LED lighting. I don't regret buying them. Both Honeymoon Mix and 9lb Hammer are almost as tall as I am. And we had to raise the lights again. We continue to water with Sucanat because they seem to love that. You can buy it in the sugar section of your local grocery store. I highly recommend it. We watered the vegetables out in the greenhouse with Sucanat and we could see immediate results on the tomato plants as well as the watermelon plants. Very cool indeed!

Bud structure continues to develop well under the Dominators. I couldn't be happier with the progress. We added Super Soil on top for more nutrients to finish out flowering. All we water with is Sucanat and some B-1. We make the Super Soil, and at some point, we'll start using the worm castings from our worm farm in the blend. Not to mention some worm casting tea! And as always, a shout-out of gratitude to SubCool and MizJill at TGA Genetics. Their seeds are awesome and I wouldn't be as well as I am without them!

It's a Lush life!

Grow Journal - Out with the Old, In with the New

It's a new garden! The last one was terrific! I'll make oil from Pennywise to see how that comes out. Actually, I'll make oil out of most of it, maybe a little tincture as well. Patients are typically highly pro-active when figuring out what works for us. Really though, what choice do we have? I envy those patients who can have the conversation with their doctors. We're a credible source because we never give up until we find what works. We'll tell you honestly what works and what doesn't. We essentially have to become our own pharmaceutical company, researching strains and medication methodologies, to find our path to healing. Because, at the end of the day, that's what this is all about..healing.

Trust me, it's not cheap to grow cannabis. I suppose it could be, but given the fact that it's medicine, we have to be extraordinarily careful how we do it. I don't use pesticides and thank the Divine Mother that we don't have mites or any other critters wreaking havoc with the plants. When you have a compromised immune system, which many of us have, you cannot afford to ingest any crap that can make you more ill. So, no molds, bug bodies, fecal matter or pesticides (poison). I love the instructions on some of those pesticides..they never tell you that some of these things become systemic in the plant and is there really an acceptable level of poison to ingest? Or is this just another version of acceptable loss that seems to drive corporations these days?

In any event, I'm growing all new strains this time. They're all from TGA Genetics Subcool Seeds. Dr. Who, Cuvee', 9 lb Hammer, Mickey Kush, Galactic Jack, and Honeymoon Mix. Honeymoon Mix isn't in Sub's lineup anymore I don't believe, and I only had one seed and it ended up being a female! Plus, I've had it a while, but you wouldn't know it to look at the plant. It'll be clone-only, though, now that I don't have any more seeds and probably can't get them now. I love getting new seeds because then we have the chance to collect pollen and then create our own strains. That's so much fun. Last time I pollinated a branch of Jack the Ripper with Pennywise, creating a strain I called RipperWise. Soon, I'll start a couple and see what I get.

And now for the ladies!

Grow Journal - 3rd Entry - Week 2 of Flower

I finally have bud pictures..or bud porn as they say. The Flav is the biggest..the Vortex is the smallest, but then I flowered Vortex sooner this time. I did the final shaping yesterday and now all I will do is take out questionable or dead leaves. That, and take pictures. My husband added the rest of the TGA Super Soil on top of the plants. Now, we'll just water with a few additives such as B-1, Liquid Karma, Silica Blast, and some bloom boosters until they're done. Of course, we always take our cues from the plants as to what they might need. Pennywise, the higher CBD variety, has awesome looking buds. I'm excited about this one because I've never had a higher CBD variety before and I'm eager to see what effect it will have on my RA.

Day 8

The plants love the Dominator XL LED lights from Lush Lighting. This is Day 8, the beginning of week 2.

All varieties are from TGA Genetics, either individual or contained within crosses. I like their stuff.. I've been an herbalist forever and there's nothing like herb magick for healing! Cannabis should be in everyone's medicine cabinet. Particularly when it's grown under lovely pink lighting..

Happy gardening!

Grow Journal - 2nd entry - 1st week of flower

Day 1

Day 2
The second entry of my pictorial grow journal is showing vegetative growth after switching to a 11hrs on/13hrs off flower cycle. Plants are grown under Dominator XL LED lighting from Lush Lighting.

Day 3
Day 4

I confess..Day 5 is not there.  I was there. My memory was  not. So, no picture. But they  did grow that day..promise!

Day 6
Day 7

No buds yet..but then it's only been a week..they're still stretching. Eventually, I'll show pictures of bud development on each of them. But for now, it's the canopy..

One last picture..well, two.. under the canopy and no, that's not where day 5 went..and my first seeds! I call them RipperWise..they're Jack the Ripper x Pennywise. The picture includes both mature and immature seeds from five buds I pollinated on one branch.

I LOVE growing stuff!
